Somehow designers manage to capture the wild amazon, colourful screeching birds, eerie foliage and exotic flowers in prints and slap ’em on a t-shirt. And it looks great.
Tropical prints are a way to transport yourself to the depths of a humid jungle, while your meandering around the concrete abyss of malls and cafes. Here a few outfits I’ve put together using tropical-print pieces, to inspire your inner wild.
This style is a confusing albeit a very trendy one. It’s not as simple as throwing on a pair of scuffed converse and an LBD on, it takes a keen eye, at least that’s what countless blog posts and Instagram shoots have us thinking. here are a couple ways YOU could rock this new trend without looking like a those Grandmas who wear floral dresses and orthopedic shoes 😉
As, runway trends become more accessible and the weather gets colder, knee-high boots have been that ‘It’ item that are loved by all, but honestly, pulled off by very few – usually those who have way too many Instagram followers, looong toned legs and also amazing beauty, because the world is unfair that way. But, finally stepping into a pair of boots that are the height of a small child or large dog does not have to be a moment of fear or worry…well, take a look at a couple of these outfits I put together and see for yourself!
Turtlenecks used to only be seen on ‘nerd’, ‘dorks’ and the generally ‘unfashionable’ part of the population. But now, they reside o the shoulders of the wealthy, stylish and ‘popular’. Although, this vast shift in fashion does not have me smh as I love this trend, especially as it it a quick and easy way to look classy and put together, but with the large styles and varieties of turtlenecks, the outfit ideas are vast. Here are a few looks I’ve conjured up:
Although the reason is unknown, military inspired clothing have been around forever, but their trend rank is shooting higher and higher, especially when the weather gets frostier. From jackets to scarfs to skirts, we’ve seen it all. Although I feel as if these pieces are used the same way by everyone, and there is no interest or freshness in the outfits anymore. So here are a few ways you can style them:
Maxi skirts – they come in all colours, wraps and patterns, but they retain that special element that makes you want to wear one all day and night; that long, flowing length.
You can swoosh them around and feel like you’re in a ballgown, or buy a bright pattern and imagine you’re walking barefoot on the beach. Either way, long skirts are here to stay, so here are a few ways to style them:
This look is a little, okay – a lot, more dressy than the usual maxi skirt and tank top for the mall combo, but its amazing what you can do with a good quality, black maxi skirt. Here, I’ve just added a pale pink crop top, a charming crystal necklace and super cool ring. To finish I added these gorgeous, dainty nude heels with pink floral accents to match with the top.
A little more of a casual look, this vibrant bohemian skirt is the star of the outfit. Pair it with a simple, fitted black top, a denim vest and killer heels to add glam to an otherwise simple outfit.
Back to the fancy, polished look – this time with this lovely, ruffled red skirt. This is the perfect date night or party look, where flair meets class. Add a simple black lace crop top and a cool, small bag with an unexpected but pale shade. Finish off with simple pointed-toe nude heels.
This is a simple look for a weekend out and/or hanging out with friends on a hot summer day. Ive paired this basic, flowy skirt in this lovely yellow shade with a loose spaghetti-strap tank with a vintage floral pattern. To finish off, I added blue lace-up flats that tie in with the colour in the floral print and these dainty gold earrings to frame the face.
Usually in denim, this one-piece has been flying off the shelves and making it big from everyday strolls in the park to the hottest fashion blogs. Here are a couple ways to style ’em:
1-This cool wide-leg pair can be dressed up with his loose bohemian floral top. Add a chic gold watch and/or bracelets and pair of pointed heels that go with your top.
A little more casual, this everyday look can be achieved by wearing a short-leg overall, like the faded one shown here and add a well-fitting tank or crop top, in a colour or print of your choice. Throw on a complementing flannel and rocker stud-boots to finish.
This simple pair is jazzed up with a sliver sequined crop top, lovely chunky heels and to add that needed pop of colour-a bright orange bag. Thus, you can balance out the casual of the overalls with colour and sparkles!
This look is a little more fun-and comfy!-with the adage of this pastel rainbow print sweatshirt. Add your fave pair of Vans and here I’ve added some glam with these gorgeous rhinestone earrings that call on the colours of the sweatshirt.
This chic black overall is jazzed up with this really cool, printed full-sleeve top. Accessorize with a pair of pumps or wedges and add a summery pair of sunnies and a faux suede hat.
